Description:
In late 2018, Che and a group of performers who had been studying with Yen-Zhen, the former leading dancer of the acclaimed Legend Lin Theater, formed Ta-Chao Production to launch their theatrical experiments. This piece, “Samsara,” is inspired by a tragic social event in which an elderly farmer was driven to suicide following the government's violent land expropriation, and is the culmination of years of intensive physical training. In this production, the performers navigate the states of life and death through distinct stages of walking: stillness before the walk, walking as a spirit, walking as being, and the departure walk. This meditative exploration transforms walking into a profound symbol of existence and transition.
